After a visit to one of SA's largest Field Days last week, I was feeling quite down hearted at the rise and rise of the conventional farming practices that is the current norm. Huge tractors, no... actually they are gargantuan, spraying chemicals for everything, and artificial fertilizers. People comment frequently that our paddocks are always greener for longer than our neighbours, and we keep banging on about keeping a cover of vegetation to stop runoff. Then they go off and plough, over stock, and wonder why the wind carries off more of their top soil each year.
